Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services

Admission Criteria

  • Children between the ages of 3 - 17
  • Resident of Brazoria or Galveston County
  • Diagnosis of a mental illness with evidence of serious emotional, behavioral or mental disturbance. Axis I Diagnosis exclusions:
    • a single diagnosis of pervasive developmental disorder;
    • a single diagnosis of substance abuse;
    • a single diagnosis of autism or mental retardation
  • Serious functional impairment;
  • At risk of disruption of a preferred living or child care environment due to psychiatric symptoms; or
  • Enrolled in a school system's special education program because of a serious emotional disturbance.

A Brief Description

Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services offers an array of family-focused, community based mental health services and supports targeted to children and their families. Services and supports for children and their families will be individualized based on family-identified strengths and needs.

Services include:

  • Crisis Intervention

  • Routine Case Management
  • Intensive Case Management utilizing a Wraparound Approach
  • Treatment Planning
  • Medication Related Services (including psychiatric evaluation and medication monitoring)
  • Family Support
  • Respite
  • Skills Training (in-home and school based)
  • Family Skills Training
  • Mental Health Information Training (Medication Training and Support)
  • Liaison Services
  • Flexible Community Supports
  • Individual, Family and Group Therapy
  • In-Home Crisis intervention

STAR+PLUS PROGRAM EXPANSION

REMINDER - With the expansion of STAR+PLUS effective February 1, 2007, providers of long-term services and support contracting as a network provider for STAR+PLUS services should contact the HMO with questions and issues about the program. If you are unsure of which HMO your provider contracts with, a call to your agency management staff may be of help. It is not appropriate for providers to contact Texas Medicaid and Health Partnership (TMHP) with billing questions and/or issues about an HMO.
