Hurricane Crisis Counseling Services
Short term crisis counseling services and resource referral information is available through grant funding for federally declared disaster areas. Currently these services are available for hurricane evacuees. To access these services, please call the following numbers:
Texas P.R.I.D.E. Crisis Counseling Program
The Texas P.R.I.D.E. (People Recovering In Spite of Devastating Events) Crisis Counseling Program serves Galveston and Brazoria counties and provides short term interventions to individuals and groups impacted by Hurricane Ike. Services include:
- Social Support
- Linking to Community Resources
- Individual Counseling
- Group Counseling
- School Groups

The Gulf Coast Center is in partnership, under Lutheran Social Services Disaster Response (LSSDR), with a network of local agencies including Boat People SOS, Catholic Charities, G.R.A.C.E. Community Services, GMC Consultants, ICNA Relief USA, and Mainland Children’s Partnership to provide disaster case management services.
Case managers work with survivors to assess disaster-related needs, create a recovery plan, advocate before long-term recovery committees, and connect the survivor to resources to help them.
To be eligible for these services one must:
- Be a Hurricane Ike survivor
- Currently reside in Brazoria or Galveston County
- Be a U.S. citizen or legal resident
- Not be currently receiving services through the Disaster Housing Assistance Program
